So we finally got on a ferry! It feels like such a leap of faith, out into the big wide world. I felt like a child on their first day of school – full of excitement yet still a little scared to let go of mum’s hand.
Our arrival in France was rather unexciting, I almost felt like I needed a welcome party after all the hype we had got ourselves in. However, we were just another car driving of the ferry and dispersing into Europe. I caught a brief glimpse of the migrant camps in Calais, but Hayden was more focused on keeping to the right hand side of the road (probably a good thing). We found a campsite by the beach in Dunkirk and rewarded ourselves with a cold beer. That was day one done. We had made it. Now to hope for the best (and plenty of sunshine).
